The New England Patriots are in the middle of a slump rolling into October. They are on a three-game losing streak and rumors have been coming out throughout the week.

There was chatter that the locker room was in complete disaster but players on the team refuted that report.

They've also been slammed with the injury bug. Caedan Wallace and David Andrews were placed on injured reserve.

Now a defensive captain will be sidelined for Week 5.

Patriots News: Jabrill Peppers Is Out for Sunday’s Game

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, safety Jabrill Peppers has been ruled out for Week 5 due to a shoulder injury. Not only is Peppers out, but safety Kyle Dugger may be sidelined as well. He hasn't practiced all week with an ankle injury.

Not having Peppers out there is a massive loss. The former Michigan standout has registered 23 total tackles, two pass deflections, and one interception. In addition, this season Peppers has an 82.9 overall grade and an 83.6 coverage grade per PFF. He's played in 93.7% of the defensive snaps this season.

They'll have to rely on the depth they've built to pull out a divisional win over the Dolphins. Thankfully, they've been terrible over the past three weeks as well.

Miami is 26th in the league in total offense (285), 23rd in passing offense (187.3), and last in scoring offense (13).

Regardless, they still have dynamic weapons like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane on offense.

New England will miss the presence of the first-year defensive captain out there on Sunday.
