Key Patriots Defender Teases Return From Injury
By Tyler Maher
The Patriots have received an avalanche of bad injury news lately, from Matthew Judon and Christian Gonzalez going on the injured reserve to the team's lengthy injury report ahead of Week 6's must-win matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Calling New England banged up would be an understatement.
Fortunately, the Patriots finally appeared to receive a kernel of good injury news on Sunday ahead of their road game in Las Vegas.
Jack Jones Injury Update
Cornerback Jack Jones tweeted "Coming soon.." on Sunday morning, implying that he may be returning from the injured reserve soon.
Jones has yet to play for New England this year after suffering a hamstring injury during practice ahead of the team's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was placed on IR that same week, taking him out of commission for at least four weeks.
It's been six weeks now, but Jones finally seems to be nearing a return. Getting Jones back would be a huge boost for the Patriots' depleted secondary. The 25-year-old was expected to be a key cog in New England's defense this year after putting together a solid rookie campaign last season, appearing in 13 games and finishing with 2 interceptions (including a pick-six), 6 passes defended and a forced fumble. He also racked up 30 tackles (25 solo), including 3 for a loss.
Jones would help replace the injured Gonzalez in the cornerback room. It's unclear if he'll be able to return in Week 7, but that would be great timing with a tough division rivalry game coming up against the potent Buffalo Bills.
For the Patriots and their fans, Jones can't come back soon enough.
