Red Sox All-Star Has Turned His Season Around After Nightmare Start

Since coming back to Fenway, the most vital bat for the Red Sox lineup has appeared to find his swing again and has helped the team go on a five-game winning streak.

Rafael Devers is back! The Designated Hitter for the Boston Red Sox has seemingly found his way back into form after a disastrous start to the season. Devers' nightmare start to the season was beginning to spark concerns about his mental and physical fitness. Those concerns are now brushed aside.

After departing from Texas after the Rangers series, the Red Sox traveled to Baltimore to face the Orioles. After losing the first game, the Red Sox offense has caught fire, and so has Devers.

The Red Sox are now riding a five game streak in which the offense has racked up 47 runs. In that time, Devers has broken out of his slump in a massive way. In the second game at Baltimore, the DH got his first two hits of the season in four at-bats and his second RBI. It was also the first time Devers didn't strike out in a game in the early part of the season.

However, it wasn't until he returned to Fenway that Devers really caught fire.

The Red Sox offense has been on a tear, and one major component of that has been the resurrection of Rafael Devers' bat.

He went 7/11 (.636) in the three-game series while driving in six RBIs with four walks. Devers also hit his first home run of the year in the Red Sox 5-4 win during the first game of the doubleheader. During the second game of the doubleheader, Devers truly ascended, where he went 4-4 with two doubles while driving in 3 runs.

During the drought against the Rangers, Devers brushed off concerns about his performance. Both Devers and Red Sox manager Alex Cora did not seem overly concerned about Devers' issues at the plate. It now appears the two were right not to be worried and offer patience with Devers' earlier struggles.

It was only a matter of time before the Sox designated hitter found his bat again, but most probably didn't think it would break out as soon as he got to hit in Fenway again. The Sox need their star to turn his season around, and he has done just that.

The Red Sox now face a Toronto Blue Jays team that has had their share of offensive struggles to start the year. This is in stark contrast to the Red Sox whose offense is humming, driving in 63 runs through 10 games compared to Blue Jays' 35 runs within the same span. Devers and the rest of the Red Sox offense will look to continue its hot hitting as they currently rank third in the MLB in runs scored.
