Romeo Doubs had a tough debut with the New England Patriots last week (had no receptions on three targets and a brutal drop late in the game), but just like the team, he bounced back in a big way on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers and showed a lot more of what he brings to the table.
In the 20-3 win for New England, Doubs recorded three receptions on four targets (and his one miss was half a drop by him and half a bad pass from Drake Maye, so not totally his fault) for a career-high 96 yards (the second-most receiving yards on either team was Hunter Henry's 40). The Los Angeles native also had a fantastic 63-yard reception on a deep ball.
For the Patriots to survive the next month or so without A.J. Brown, it will need to be all hands on deck in the receiving room. And if he can build on this momentum and prove that his Week 1 disaster was just a fluke, then New England may be getting its money's worth out of Doubs very shortly.

I know his performance in the season opener was brutal, but there were always reasons to be excited about Doubs' fit in New England.
The 26-year-old is incredibly versatile, being able to line up anywhere on the field and make catches in short-, intermediate-, and deep-ball situations. He is also a legitimate red zone threat because of his size (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) and physicality (remember: Doubs led the Green Bay Packers in receiving touchdowns in two of his four seasons with them), and this was an area the Patriots desperately needed to address this past offseason.
In Week 2, Doubs showed a lot more of what he can offer New England, and fans should be excited. It's especially promising considering that he had as successful a game as he did without having Brown on the field to open things up for him.
Doubs had a rough first week (and based on his track record, it's fair to assume more drops are coming -- this was a big concern for him entering the league, and it only got marginally better throughout his time in Green Bay), but on paper, he is a fantastic fit for the Patriots, and his performance in Week 2 is likely just a glimpse of what his future with the team might hold.
