It took a few months, but Al Horford is finally playing up to his potential for the Boston Celtics.

When the Boston Celtics added Al Horford this past summer, impatient fans expected him to be a 20 and 10 guy right from day one.  Well, that’s not how things work.  After a few injuries and a few months, Al Horford is finally starting to live up to his contract.

Personally, I just feel that Horford has really started to get comfortable in the Celtics system.  His numbers are glowing, and Brad Stevens has made it a note to get him the ball more.  He’s flirted with a triple-double the past few games, and had four blocks against the Brooklyn Nets on March 17.

His play recently has made this team so much better.

Horford seems to have gelled with his teammates quite well as of late, and if you haven’t noticed, him and Isaiah Thomas are staggered quite a bit.

By that I mean Brad has switched it up.  He’s putting Al in with the second unit more or leaving Isaiah in with that unit while Horford is out. It’s been working, which is a great thing to discover late in the season.  I mean the guy had eight assists last game, what center does that?  His passing has helped that bench unit move the ball more and get better looks.

Isaiah Thomas has also started finding different ways to spread the ball around, and the offense is flowing better as a result.  Jae Crowder is finally able to hit open shots since his ankle has healed up, and Avery Bradley played 39 minutes the other night. That’s his most since returning from injury.

Really watch Al Horford in the post, he’s constantly looking for a cutter.  It’s his first instinct, and if he can’t find a cutter then he’ll post up.  I really think his veteran leadership has helped guide this team.  I always loved the Horford signing.  We’re finally getting to see what he’s all about.
