New England Patriots: 2015 NFL Draft Results
The 2015 NFL Draft is in the books. The New England Patriots, fresh off a Super Bowl championship, made out rather well for themselves with their bevy of selections.
The Patriots entered the draft with known needs on both the defensive and offensive line. Bill Belichick addressed those needs and then also added pieces to the secondary.
With the 32nd overall pick of the first round, the Patriots selected monstrous defensive tackle Malcom Brown out of Texas. He was in All-American as a junior in 2014. Brown excels at clogging the interior gaps and can bounce around to play each position along the defensive front. His versatility, maturity and willingness to work hard are all signs that point to Brown succeeding as a starter on the Patriots defense, especially with Vince Wilfork now gone.

In the second round, with the 64th overall pick, the Patriots drafted Stanford safety Jordan Richards. Richards was a defensive captain and is a natural on-field leader. While at Stanford, Richards was known for ability to direct the defense due to his in-depth understanding of several positions around him. He tackles well and intelligently reads opposing offenses. His overall character and approach to the game is exactly what Belichick looks for in a player.
The Patriots went on to add three defensive ends in the later rounds, among a slew of other pieces. They selected four times in the fourth round, drafting guard Tre Jackson out of Florida State and center Shaq Mason out of Georgia Tech. The two lineman are both skilled and could see time along the starting front as rookies.
