The New York Daily News reported Friday that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady would be suspended in the upcoming week for his believed involvement in the DeflateGate controversy. Brady was found to be “at least generally aware” of the illegal manipulation of the footballs by two team employees during the AFC Championship game. The NFL responded to the report, labeling it as “misleading.”
According to Boston.com, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello informed them that “no decisions have been made” regarding the reported looming suspension for Brady.
New York Daily News reporter Gary Myers wrote in the article’s headline that “Brady will be suspended by Roger Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement expected new week.” Myers failed to mention any actual sources in the article, leaving much to be questioned.

Aiello called Myers’ headline “misleading” and nothing more than a “prediction” as to what he think will unfold in the coming days.
“The feeling is that the Wells Report supplied Goodell with enough ammunition to suspend Brady both for breaking the rules by ordering the deflation of footballs and by not cooperating with the investigation when he refused to turn over his cell phone to Wells’ investigators,” Myers wrote in the article.
Just because Aiello refuted Myers’ report does not clear Brady of potential punishment. In fact, some sort of punishment, whether it be a suspension or fine, is indeed likely. Roger Goodell made it clear this past Wednesday the NFL was considering a punishment for Brady.

Various reports from across the country predict a possible suspension of up to a full season though, everything is mere speculation, just as Aiello iterated in his response to Myers’ article.
With so much non-sense being tossed around, most of which has been fueled by Patriots hate, an immediate decision regarding a suspension seems unlikely. The NFL will be quite careful in determining a plan of action against Brady as they are well aware a court battle will likely follow.
