New England Revolution Tie Galaxy at Rain-Soaked Gillette
The New England Revolution put their 15-game home unbeaten streak on the line Sunday night against the Los Angeles Galaxy at a rain-soaked Gillette Stadium. Benefitting from goals by Teal Bunbury and Diego Fagundez, the Revolution earned a 2-2 draw, keeping that streak alive in front of 17,000 fans.
Five minutes into the game, Bunbury potted a close-range marker to put the Revolution ahead of the Galaxy 1-0 early on. Scott Caldwell played a nifty cross to the net-front area, connecting beautifully with Bunbury. The tally was Bunbury’s third of the season.

The defending MLS Cup champions would respond in the 18th minute of play with an equalizer off the foot of Ignacio Maganto. Baggio Husidic recorded the assist on Maganto’s goal which beat Revolution keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.
Gyasi Zardes put the Galaxy out in front in the 27th minute with an uncontested goal in the box. Set up by Jose Villarreal’s stylish back-heel pass to help elude the Revolution defense, Zardes made sure to finish off the great effort for a 2-1 advantage.
Youngster Diego Fagundez tied the game for the Revolution in the 37th minute. After earning a free kick, Fagundez struck a slicing ball over the Galaxy’s defending wall and into the far left-hand corner of the net. The goal marked his first of the season. Fagundez was playing in place of the suspended Lee Nguyen.

The Revolution lost midfielder Jermaine Jones to an apparent groin injury in the 30th minute. He was replaced by Andy Dorman. Jones was selected to play on the USMNT earlier in the day for international duties.
Both sides played an evenly matched game throughout. The Galaxy outshot the Revolution 12-11. The Revolution had their chances to produce more scoring chances though, earning eight corners to the one of Los Angeles. In the rainy conditions, play became sloppy at times. A total of 31 fouls were whistled.
The Revolution will visit the Portland Timbers next Saturday. The game will kick off at 10:30 p.m. EDT.
