Looks like the New England Patriots have found themselves quite the guy to add depth on the defensive line.

One of the underrated signings this offseason made by the New England Patriots will be that of Lawrence Guy.

The former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman was signed to a four-year contract on worth $20 million on Saturday.  At just 26 years old, Guy adds athleticism, size and experience to a defensive line comprised of Alan Branch, Malcom Brown, Vincent Valentine and Woodrow Hamilton.

His interior pass rushing abilities is what the team will benefit from the most.  During his first five seasons in the NFL, Guy has 128 tackles and 6.5 sacks. His 6-foot-4, 305-pound frame should fit nicely next to Branch in the interior of the Patriots’ defense.  Most importantly, the young defensive lineman is excited to join a winning organization like the Patriots.

In his introductory conference call Thursday, Lawrence Guy couldn’t stop gushing about his new team.

"“It’s a really good team,” he said, via NESN.  “They have a great owner, Mr. (Robert) Kraft, and a great coach in Bill Belichick.  So it’s one of those opportunities that got put in front of me, and you can’t really pass up an opportunity to play for the Patriots.  The Ravens organization was a great organization, and I’d just like to continue my career in New England.”"

Guy went on to compliment the organization on how they treat their players and the pride the team showcases on and off the field.  Those are qualities he witnessed as an opposing player who has faced the Patriots twice over the last three seasons.

As part of a heated rival such as the Ravens, Guy said he only has respect and admiration for the Patriots from the opposing sidelines.  Now having the chance to play for them, Guy defined the opportunity as a blessing.

"“To be honest, I never thought it would be possible for me to join the Patriots,” Guy said.  “That’s why, when I heard about the opportunity, I was blessed.  I was like, ‘I can’t believe I get to join this organization.’”"
