With a win on Tuesday night over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Boston Bruins can punch their ticket to the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

A regulation win today ensures that the Boston Bruins will be slotted into the playoffs.

A win would give the Bruins 94 points on the year, with 42 regulation and overtime wins. The regulation and overtime wins are the first tiebreaker for playoff scenarios, and Boston would hold that tiebreaker.

The Remaining Schedule

More from Chowder and Champions

Tuesday, 7:00 PM at home against Tampa (88 points, ninth in the East)

Thursday, 7:00 PM at home against Ottawa (92 points, third in the Atlantic)

Saturday, 3:00 PM at home against Washington (112 points, first in the East)

Boston can also help their seeding in the remaining games. After Tuesday’s clash with the Lightning, the Bruins will take on Ottawa. The Bruins will look to be this year’s Pittsburgh Penguins, limping into the playoffs but turning it on at just the right time to win it all.

Tuesday’s Matchup

Tuukka Rask will likely be in net for the Bruins after Anton Khudobin got the last win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

While Boston is likely to claim a playoff spot, Tampa Bay is seemingly fighting for their lives. They aren’t out of it all yet, but a loss here would all but push them out. The TD Garden should be rocking for a nationally televised game of such importance. Expect a playoff-like atmosphere.

Both teams are playing their third game in four days as they each played back to backs over the weekend. Boston defeated Florida 5-2 on Saturday and Chicago 3-2 on Sunday. Tampa Bay split their weekend with an overtime loss to Montreal and a win over Dallas Sunday.

The game will be on NBCSN and we hope it’s a good one. The TD Garden should be electric.
