New England Patriots: Brandin Cooks says fame does not define his game
New England Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks is buying into the “Patriots Way” and that’s just as scary as his talent.
The one knock on Brandin Cooks was the perception that he could be selfish at times. Misunderstood, the New England Patriots wide receiver is already proving that he is not the diva wide receiver many believed he was with the New Orleans Saints.
So far through OTAs and mandatory workouts, Cooks has impressed coaches with his work ethic and attention to detail. He has already embraced the “Do Your Job” motto and has put team accomplishments ahead of his own.
That could change (see Randy Moss 2009), but as of now Cooks is demonstrating the right attitude with his actions on the field and in the film room. He is also saying the right things to the media.

Cooks told ESPN’s Mike Reiss that he doesn’t give the perception he has acquired any attention.
"“I don’t necessarily ever think about that,” Cooks said, via ESPN. “I’m not really on the media like that, looking up things like that. Fame in my life is not something I strive for, so I don’t pay attention to that.”"
On to New England
Brandin Cooks already put up big numbers with the Saints. If he provides the same kind of production or more catching the ball from Tom Brady, he could become something even more special.
Also, if he continues to put the team first and not express the frustration he exhibited with the Saints during a 49-21 blowout win, he could help the team go a very long way. With the weapons they have, they may even be unstoppable in their pursuit of a sixth Super Bowl championship.

Again, he is saying and doing the right things right now. His performance on the field will tell the true story on whether he has thoroughly bought in to the system. Head coach Bill Belichick is impressed enough about his ability and work ethic to give up a first-round pick for him.

Now Brandin Cook just have to prove he is more than a flashy deep threat. The coaches may already know that. Fans will get to see it very soon.
