The Boston Celtics traded for Kyrie Irving Tuesday night, letting go of All Star Isaiah Thomas.  So what’s next for Boston?

First, deep breath Boston Celtics fans.

It’s been a wild off-season for the NBA, and just when you thought they were done, the Celtics and Cavaliers

steal the spotlight.  Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the 2018 Nets pick to Cleveland.  Kyrie Irving to Boston.

Who would have thought?

I mean it’s exciting to think about Kyrie in green, but Isaiah has been the heart and soul of this team.  It’s a new team dynamic, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

The Celtics keeping Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum is a big win for them.  These are two young guys who have potential to be great in this league, and they’re under financial control for the next few years.

It seems like Boston lost this deal, and I can see how people would think that.  But Isaiah Thomas is coming off a hip injury and wants a max deal.  That’s something the Celtics were clearly never comfortable with, and so they made the smart business decision and traded him.

The Celtics will open the season in Cleveland against the Cavaliers, which is sure to be fun.  A lineup of Irving-Brown-Hayward-Horford-Baynes (Morris maybe?), is going to be fun to watch.  It’s so much offensive talent.  The challenge for Brad Stevens is getting these guys to play defense.  I mean these guys are great but they need to be able to stop their opponents.

I hope you guys are ready for the young players!  The Celtics bench is full of youth now, and they’re going to have to really grow up in order for this team to move forward.  It’s going to be an exciting season and it can’t get here quick enough!
