Boston Bruins v. Colorado Avalanche 10/9/2017: Game preview and predictions
With injuries piling up, the Boston Bruins will look to improve to 2-0-0 on the young NHL season on Monday afternoon at home against the Avalanche.
The Boston Bruins look like they’ll be getting Torey Krug back from his injury on Monday, and Austin Czarnik could make his season debut as well. Patrice Bergeron is likely a game-time decision for this one.
No matter who’s on the ice though, the Bruins will be ready to go. They got off to a hot start with a win against the Nashville Predators last Thursday, and on Monday they’ll face another Western Conference opponent. The Colorado Avalanche will be in town for the holiday matinee.
The Bruins and Avs have been linked in trade rumors for a long time, mostly centering around Matt Duchene. A deal of course never got done, and now Duchene will be on the ice in Boston hoping to take down the Bruins.

First Star: Tuukka Rask
I believe this is going to be Tuukka Rask’s first shutout of the 2017-18 season. The Avs are 1-1-0 on the year, with a win over the Rangers and a loss to the Devils. They did breakout to score 4 in their game against New York, but New Jersey was able to hold them to just one goal. Tuukka has the skills to shut them down on Monday afternoon.
Second Star: Brad Marchand
Marchand was solid in Boston’s win last Thursday, and he’s going to be one the best players in the league this season. Today, I think he’ll get on the board in the 1st period with a goal, while also adding an empty-netter late in the 3rd. It will be a 2-point day for Marchand on Monday.
Third Star: Torey Krug
He’s back! Right away, Torey Krug will have an impact on the defensive end for the Boston Bruins. His return will be a reason for the shutout, and he may even add an assist today. I think he’s anxious to play and ready to make a statement.

Game Prediction: Bruins 3, Avalanche 0
Blank them Tuukka! This would be an awesome win on an early holiday afternoon. The game will start at 1 PM, the same time that the Boston Red Sox play Game 4 of the ALDS. The Bruins should earn this win before heading to Colorado for a rematch on Wednesday.
