Boston Bruins player review: Brad Marchand continued to be elite in 2018
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins winger continued to play phenomenal and prove that he is an elite scorer in the NHL.
Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand is such an interesting character. Whether it is on the ice or on Twitter he makes people angry or elated. In the 2017-2018 season, Marchand continued to prove that he is one of the best wingers in the NHL.
Marchand started off the season on fire. In the Bruins first 6 games, he scored 4 goals and 5 assists. When you tuned into a Bruins game you were just waiting for Marchand to score.
Marchand ended the regular season with 34 goals and 51 assists. This season Marchand improved his passing which is bad news for the rest of the league. His 51 assists were the most in his career. The Bruins were such a deep team so this isn’t surprising.

The NHL needs to put some respect on Marchand’s name. It seems like people don’t want to give him the credit he deserves because he is a “dirty” player. Once again Marchand proved that he is an elite scorer.
The only low light in Marchand’s season was his suspension. It seems like you have to pencil one of these occurrences every season. Marchand elbowed a New Jersey Devils forward and was suspended 5 games. It wasn’t the prettiest of hits, and the Bruins can’t have Marchand getting suspended every season.
Moving on to next season
Going into next season Marchand will look to become a more disciplined player. At the Bruins break-up day, Marchand surprised a lot of people and sounded disappointed with himself.
"“The biggest thing for me is taking a pretty hard look in the mirror and realize that some of the things I’m doing have much bigger consequences,” he said on Wednesday. “The last thing I ever want to do is bring embarrassment to my teammates and the organization like I did.”"
I am really skeptical about this. Marchand tried to clean up his game and not get under peoples skin in the past and his play suffered. Does Marchand need to eliminate the dirty hits from his game? Absolutely. Should he still be an agitator? Absolutely.
Marchand got to the NHL by being an agitator, not a dirty player. So if he can eliminate the terrible hits from his game he will play a full season. Just imagine the numbers he would have put up this season if he wasn’t suspended.
Next: Hockey players are insane
No matter what Brad Marchand will continue to be a great scorer and one of the best players on the Boston Bruins.
