In a recent interview, former Seattle Seahawk Cliff Avril said that players started doubting Head Coach Pete Carroll after the New England Patriots epic win in Super Bowl XLIX.

It has been 3 years since the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks with a crushing interception by Malcolm Butler but It seems like the controversial call that led to the Patriots getting the W is still affecting the Seahawks.

On the Dave Dameshek Football Program, former Seahawk Cliff Avril said that players started to doubt head coach Pete Carroll after the infamous play call.

This is just more proof that the New England Patriots are the greatest franchise in the league. It has been 3 years since Pete Carroll made the idiotic decision to pass the ball instead of giving it to Marshawn Lynch and it is still affecting the organization.

More from Chowder and Champions

With everything going on in New England with the divide between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, and the Butler benching it is nice to look back on these moments and be reminded how great the Patriots are.

The Patriots practiced this exact play the week before. It was like Belichick had a time machine and knew that play was coming. Also, the call to put Butler in was a humongous risk, but the Patriots believed that he could make the play and boy did he. Butler was a no-name undrafted rookie and after that play he became a part of Patriots folklore.

Another interesting takeaway

Something else that I found interesting was Avril’s belief that if the Seahawks had won that game they would have probably gone on to win more Super Bowls. The Patriots basically dismantled the Roman Empire.

Hopefully, this can serve as a reminder of the Patriots greatness. They have one of the best coaching staffs in the league. Belichick will go down as one of the best coaches in NFL history.
