The Boston Celtics new practice facility is a beauty
By Sam Minton
The Boston Celtics practice facility just got a serious upgrade. The team moved from Waltham to Brighton and are going to be practicing in a basketball palace.
The Boston Celtics practice facility may be featured on the next episode of Cribs (is that show still on?). The team unveiled the Auerbach Center yesterday and it looks absolutely amazing.
The facility’s amenities make it sound like players will be practicing at a five-star hotel (list courtesy of CBS Boston).
- Two full-sized parquet floor NBA basketball courts
- Sports science lab and performance equipment, including floor-embedded force plates, and other systems for detailed player-performance data collection
- Expanded strength and conditioning, training, and recovery facilities, including a 40-foot exercise pool, hydrotherapy pools, and a float tank
- Medical exam room with GE Medical Imaging and measuring equipment
- Full commercial kitchen and nutrition facilities
- Leading edge audio-visual technology throughout the facility
- Best-in-class players’ locker rooms, auxiliary men’s and women’s locker rooms, players’ lounge, and nap room
- Expanded media work room, press conference, and broadcast facilities
- Enhanced work space for the team’s coaching and basketball front office staffs
Feel free to take a look for yourself.

The place looks amazing. Nothing looks as good as a parquet floor.
Now this may seem like some typical offseason news, but the Celtics believe this makes them a much more intriguing destination. Brad Stevens believes the new facility will help them land free agents.
"“It’s a huge boost, I think. And it’s about prioritizing your players. It’s about prioritizing their growth, being committed to them in every which way and showing that in as many ways as you can. This clearly shows it. And both from a long-term retention standpoint and when you bring new players in, this checks every box. It’s incredible."
The Celtics have some big decisions to make in the upcoming seasons. They have to re-sign Kyrie Irving and that has led to some controversy this offseason. Irving has made it seem like Boston is just a pit stop to the next payday, but the point guard has started to change his tune. Maybe the Celtics focus on helping their players will make Kyrie realize that Boston is the best place to play in the NBA.

It remains to be seen if the Boston Celtics new practice facility will bring in some big talent, but no one can deny how amazing the Auerbach Center looks.
