Patrice Bergeron is the heart and soul of the Boston Bruins. With the center turning 33 on Tuesday, let’s take a moment to appreciate his greatness.

Dear Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron,

Where do I begin? You have grown a lot since you came into the league as a bright-eyed 18-year-old in 2003. You have become the heart and soul of the Boston Bruins. I can’t even imagine a time with you not playing.

There are so many reasons to admire your game. You just play it the right way. From your faceoff ability to being the best defensive center in the league. You play a 200′ game and you should be proud. Players like you are a dying breed in today’s NHL.

That’s no knock on your goal scoring ability. In your 14 years as a member of the Bruins, you have scored 289 goals 445 assists. You even had two hat tricks last season.

Just like Tom Brady, there are no signs of you slowing down. It seems like you could play for 10 more years.

Also I have some questions. Where do you put your Selke Awards? Did you have to build a new wing of your home just for them? Also how heavy is the Stanley Cup?

Next season hopefully I will be watching you lift the Stanley Cup over your head once again. If you, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak can keep on scoring like last season anything seems possible.

So thank you for being such a great player Patrice. Even off the ice you are such a great guy. There is definitely a place for you on the Mt. Rushmore of current Boston athletes.

So happy 33rd birthday Patrice. Hopefully you will have another great year as the Boston Bruins top center.
