New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had an opportunity to avoid a suspension for “deflategate” but he wouldn’t sell out two Patriots employees at the request of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Tom Brady is known for being an amazing football player, but he is also an amazing human being. He does a ton of charity work for the Best Buddies program, and now it appears that he has a ton of loyalty to all the members of the New England Patriots organization.

In the newly released book, “12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady’s Fight for Redemption” there is a passage that states that Brady had a chance to avoid a suspension.

"“He demanded that Brady state publicly that former Patriots equipment guys (John) Jastremski and (Jim) McNally had purposely tampered with footballs, even without his knowledge,” authors Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge write, via ABC News. “Tom said no.” “There’s no way I’m gonna ruin these guys for something I believe they didn’t do,” Brady told DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association and Brady’s legal representative, according to the excerpt."

Tom Brady appears to look like America’s golden boy with this development. I bet a lot of guys would have ruined these two employee’s lives just to avoid a suspension.

More from Chowder and Champions

At the end of the day, these employee’s aren’t a major part of the Patriots organization. Still, Brady wasn’t going to sit by and let some innocent guys take the blame. According to NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran, Jim McNally even offered to be Brady’s fall guy and take the blame, but Brady wouldn’t let that happen.

The best quarterback in the league is also a great human being off the field.

Not a good look for the NFL

Man oh man does this make the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell look awful. They didn’t care if the allegations were true, and didn’t care who took the blame. The NFL just wanted to find someone to blame.

They thought that Brady would just bow to the NFL and do whatever the league told him to do. A lesser man would have caved, but Tom Brady caves to no one.

This is one of the first times that Brady comes out of deflategate looking good. This has put a stain on his otherwise perfect career. That suspension will always be something Brady haters can hang their hat on.

Now it seems like you can’t be mad at Brady. He was given an opportunity to avoid a suspension, but wouldn’t take the bait.

dark. Next. Tom Brady has mellowed with age

Once again Roger Goodell looks like an incompetent commissioner and Tom Brady looks like America’s hero.
