Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy proved that he has the skills to be a top defenseman in the NHL. This upcoming season, McAvoy will prove that he is the best defenseman on the Bruins roster.

Charlie McAvoy became a Boston Bruins fan favorite with his performance in the 2016-2017 playoffs. He was the Bruins version of Jayson Tatum. As a 19-year-old McAvoy stole the hearts of Bruins fans with his board shaking hits and silky hands. McAvoy should establish himself as the best Bruins defenseman this season.

Last season McAvoy proved that his performance in the 2016-2017 playoffs wasn’t a fluke. In 63 games he had 7 goals and 25 assists. McAvoy could bring the hammer down on an opposing forward and then skate up the ice and make defenders look silly. He is a true two-way defenseman.

McAvoy did have issues staying healthy in his rookie year. It was discovered that the young defender had a heart issue in January and he was forced to sit on the sidelines for a few weeks. Then later in the season, McAvoy suffered an MCL injury and had to miss a month.

You can’t really blame McAvoy for missing time, but you hope he can play in a lot more games this season.

In the Playoffs, McAvoy was one of the Bruins best players. He had a goal and 4 assists and was playing phenomenally. Unfortunately, some of his teammates didn’t get the message.

Prediction time

I expect McAvoy to continue to improve this season. He will once again be alongside Zdeno Chara on the Bruins top defensive pairing.

Torey Krug had a phenomenal season last year, but I think this season McAvoy will be the top scorer on defense.

Last season I predicted that McAvoy would have 30 points and was correct (credit to me), but this season I expect McAvoy to improve even more. My prediction is that McAvoy will have 15 goals and 40 assists.

Being on the powerplay helps McAvoy get some good scoring opportunities and working alongside the Bruins top line makes it easy to rack up assists.

Next. Brad Marchand will take charge once again. dark

Charlie McAvoy is just getting started. He is about to take over the NHL.
