Boston Bruins: NHL Network doesn’t think highly of Patrice Bergeron
By Sam Minton
The NHL Network ranked the top centers in the league and left a major name out of the top 5. How on Earth is Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron ranked 9th?
One would think that Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron plays a game that would make him loved by any true hockey fan. He is an amazing two-way forward who just plays the game the right way. Apparently, the NHL Network doesn’t like Bergeron’s game as much as Bruins fans do.
The network released their top 20 centers in the NHL right now and were none too kind to the Bruins legend.
This list is rather insane. You’ll notice that Jonathan Toews apparently doesn’t play in the NHL because how could you leave him off the list altogether after one bad season. Also, how do you leave Steven Stamkos out of the top 10? The man is a goal scoring machine.

One of the biggest injustices is having Patrice Bergeron at No.8. The fact that they listed Nathan MacKinnon, and Mark Scheifele ahead of Bergeron is appalling.
Even though Bergeron was injured last season he put up great numbers. In 64 games he scored 30 goals and 33 assists. Auston Matthews had the same amount of points but was ranked 4th. What sort of criteria is the NHL using?
Bergeron deserves some respect
I can’t comprehend why Bergeron isn’t in the top five. He is an amazing center in both the offensive and defensive zone.
Even though this is Bergeron’s 15th season I still expect him to be one of the Bruins top scorers. He hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. As long as Bergeron is healthy he should put up some nice numbers.
There is no doubt that Bergeron will be the last player to wear No.37 for the Bruins and will be headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame when he retires.
So the NHL Network may want to start respecting Bergeron or maybe just hire someone else to do their top 20 list.
