New England Patriots: Isaiah Wynn’s absence will be noticed
By Sam Minton
New England Patriots 1st round pick Isaiah Wynn tore his Achilles in Thursday nights preseason game and delivered a huge blow to New England’s offensive line.
New England Patriots fans won’t be seeing Isaiah Wynn on the field anytime soon. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Wynn tore his Achilles on Thursday night and will be out for the entire season.
An Achilles injury is not pleasant. Wynn will probably be a different player when he returns. When you weigh 310 pounds it takes a lot to get your body moving. Wynn may not have the same foot speed that he once had before.
Wynn was competing for the right tackle job. With Wynn out Patriots fans are blessed and get to watch the wonderful Marcus Cannon. Hopefully, Tom Brady won’t be on the ground too much.

The Patriots will survive at left tackle. I think Trent Brown will do great protecting Brady’s blindside. He is an absolute animal.
Right tackle will be more of a problem area for the Patriots. Cannon is untrustworthy, to say the least, and I don’t know if I trust the backups. If the offensive line suffers a few more injuries the Patriots could be in big trouble.
It’s tough when a first round pick gets injured in his rookie season. Expectations are high and you want to prove that you were worth the investment. The Patriots will have to wait another season for the return on their investment.
The Patriots lost Nate Solder in free agency who was one of their best offensive linemen. Wynn was looked at to be someone who strengthened the Patriots offensive line for the future.
Hopefully Wynn will return next season and be a great O-lineman, but for now, there is a noticeable hole in the New England Patriots offensive line
