Cordarrelle Patterson had a quality performance in the New England Patriots second preseason game. He needs to build off his effort if he wants to be a major part of the Pats offense.

Cordarrelle Patterson let the New England Patriots know that he means business in the second week of the preseason. He had a great performance and gave Patriots fans some hope that he could be a quality receiver.

When the Patriots acquired Patterson in the offseason he wasn’t expected to be a big part of New England’s offense. Primarily Patterson was looked at to be a kick returner. It has been his calling card so far in his career.

With Julian Edelman suspended for the first month of the season, the Patriots will need Patterson to be a solid receiver as well.

For the first time in a Patriots uniform, Patterson was impressive. In the Patriots second preseason game, he had 4 catches for 51 yards and a very impressive touchdown.

As you can see Patterson has elite speed and can make defenders miss. Tom Brady must have been licking his lips thinking about throwing screens to the wideout.

Even though Patterson had a good game he knows he needs to keep working on the little things that will make him a great receiver.

"“There’s still a lot of stuff I need to work on,” the 27-year-old said. “Getting in and out of my routes, finishing my routes, blocking better, knowing my assignments. So I feel like each and every week, there’s going to be things you need to work on. It’s never going to be perfect, but you’ve got to go out and just keep competing and just show them you’re worth it.”"

I think Patterson could have a great season in New England. If you are a fast receiver, Tom Brady can make life easy for you. He loves to throw simple dink and dunk passes.

dark. Next. Isaiah Wynn’s absence will be noticed

If Patterson can continue to have performances like he did on Thursday, New England Patriots fans will be loving him.
