Chris Hogan

Entering his third season with the New England Patriots, wide receiver Chris Hogan is as destined as ever for a breakout season in 2019.

Of course, he was predicted to have a 1,000-yard receiving season in 2018, but a shoulder injury pretty much stalled his production towards the middle of the season.

Still, Hogan continued to become one of Tom Brady’s most trusted receivers and turned it on in the playoffs and in Super Bowl LII.  Now, with Brandon Cooks traded, Danny Amendola gone and Julian Edelman missing the first four games of the season due to suspension, Hogan becomes Brady’s No. 1 option on the outside.

And the opportunity couldn’t come at a better time for Hogan, who is entering the final year of his three-year contract.  If he stays healthy and puts in the kind of season he was trending towards in 2018, a big pay day could be in store for the 30-year-old receiver.

This is both good and bad news for the Patriots.  As the team is filled with question marks at the wide receiver position, Chris Hogan stepping up will help out tremendously.  At the same time, his value on the market could skyrocket.

Add his motivation for the big pay day to the fact that he is the No. 2 option behind Rob Gronkowski and 2019 will be a big one for former Lacrosse player.
