After his controversial decision to bench Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl New England Patriots fans were all over Bill Belichick, but maybe it was the right call.

We all remember what may have been regarded as New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s worst decision in his entire coaching career. As the Patriots defense was getting lit up by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bow, Malcolm Butler was just standing on the sidelines, but maybe Belichick made the right decision.

Like most Patriots fans I was pissed after the Super Bowl. Malcolm Butler was our top corner throughout the season. Why on Earth would you bench him?

The Patriots defense was playing terribly, with Butler things may have ended differently. Fans haven’t really gotten a true answer as to why Butler didn’t play and probably never will.

Maybe Bill was right?

I don’t know how much you have been paying attention to the Tennessee Titans this season, but their defense hasn’t been so hot. Guess who one of there worst players has been? Malcolm Butler.

Butler has been burned for touchdowns in two straight weeks. The shutdown corner who existed in New England seems to have gone missing. Butler has given up 257 yards and 3 touchdowns. Those numbers make him the worst corner in the NFL.

So maybe Butler had already been struggling in New England and wouldn’t help the Patriots defense. Maybe Belichick once again outsmarted us all?

A move that was once looked at as horrible seems to be getting more and more support. If Butler continues to play poorly it just makes Belichick and the Patriots look that much better.

So I’m sorry for doubting you Bill. I don’t know why I do. You are the greatest coach in the history of the NFL.

For a second it seemed like the “in Bill we trust” mantra had disappeared, but now it may be back and better than ever.
