Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota and the forward is great friends with  Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving, but the C’s should stay away from Butler.

Even though we are getting closer to the regular season it seems like some rosters still aren’t set in stone. Jimmy Butler informed the Minnesota Timberwolves that he wants to be traded, and of course the Boston Celtics are linked, but they need to stay far away.

Butler is a great player. At one point you could even consider him a top-25 player in the NBA. Butler knows how to score, and that’s basically it.

Now we can not deny that Butler is a quality player, but here are 3 reasons that the Celtics should steer clear of Jimmy Butler.

More from Chowder and Champions

1. He is a locker room cancer

Every locker room that Jimmy Butler walks into ends up falling apart before he leaves. Butler seems to always be causing trouble.

In Minnesota, he had issues with Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns and just seems to be a negative influence on guys. Towns and Wiggins are great players and at this point better than Butler. Maybe Butler should focus on being a better player and not his teammates.

Butler tries to be a leader in a locker room but ends up doing more harm than good. He only lasted one season with the Timberwolves.

The whole reason he ended up in Minnesota was because he talked his way out of Chicago. He hated Fred Hoidberg so much and basically issued an ultimatum.

Even though Butler is friends with Kyrie Irving, I think he would ruin the Celtics locker room. All of the guys are team oriented and aren’t selfish. Brad Stevens has built a great culture in Boston. His hard work would be ruined if the Celtics ended up trading for him.
