The Boston Celtics kick off their season on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. There are definitely some players that need to get off to hot starts.

Basketball is finally back. The Boston Celtics kick off their season on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers in a matchup that will definitely have some tension.

Expectations are high for the Celtics this season. The C’s roster is stacked and fans are expecting a trip to the NBA Finals. If Boston falls early in the playoffs chaos will ensue.

That’s why some players will be looking to get off to hot starts. Some players who were injured will look to prove that they still are top talents, while some players will be trying to prove that their performances last season wasn’t a fluke.

So here are 3 players who need to get off to hot starts this year.

1. Gordon Hayward

After missing all of last season, Gordon Hayward will be trying to prove to Celtics fans that he was worth the investment.

Now even though Hayward will be looking to start the season off strong I think that Celtics fans need to manage their expectations.

The injury that Hayward suffered was awful. Even though he played in the preseason he still will take some time to adjust to the pace of play. Hayward will take some time to find his shot and his rhythm.

Now I’m definitely not discounting Hayward’s talent. He could easily start the season off averaging 20-plus points per game. I just think it is unfair for fans to expect him to immediately be at 100 percent as soon as he steps on the floor.

If Gordon Hayward can get off to a hot start it will take a lot of pressure off of him and he will prove that he was worth the acquisition.
