It looks like Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy is putting his faith in Jaroslav Halak as the goaltender will be in between the pipes once again on Saturday.

The Boston Bruins appeared to have finally found their starting goaltender, and surprisingly his name isn’t Tuukka Rask. With Jaroslav Halak looking impenetrable, Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy appears to be riding the hot hand.

The team announced on Friday that Halak would be starting once again on Saturday when the Bruins go up against the Nashville Predators.

I really like this move. Tuukka Rask has looked pretty horrible in net. He has been struggling ever since his opening night debacle. There are of course times when Rask looks like a capable goaltender, but overall he has looked like a shell of himself.

More from Chowder and Champions

In 6 games Rask has a 3-3 record with an awful 3.15 goals against average, and a .902 save percentage. Rask needs to step his game up and hopefully this benching will serve as a wake-up call.

Stay hot Halak!

Ever since the start of the season Jaroslav Halak has been playing phenomenal. Halak has made big save after big save. He has single-handedly made sure that the Bruins have won the games he has appeared in.

So far this season Halak has been lights out. He is 4-0-2 with a 1.51 goals against average and a .947 save percentage. Those numbers are so amazing he is currently the best statistical goaltender in the NHL.

It would be stupid to not rid Halak’s hot streak out. He has shown no signs of stopping.

It’s not like Halak has had just one or two lucky games. He has been great every time he goes between the pipes. In his last game, Halak stopped 42 shots. Those are some Vezina Trophy finalist like numbers.

dark. Next. Sad start sends Ryan Donato to Providence

So it will be interesting to see how Jaroslav Halak performs on Saturday night. If he has another great performance I would expect Halak to continue to get the nod over Tuukka Rask.
