Kyrie Irving looked to be the hero for the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, but one play changed the narrative real quick.

Kyrie Irving is who you expect to win games for the Boston Celtics not losing them. It looked like on Saturday night had pulled a win out of his hat, but then disaster struck and the C’s ended up losing to the Indiana Pacers.

Let’s start with the positive. Irving had another quality game for the C’s. Kyrie scored 18 points and had 6 rebounds and 3 assists. It appears that Irving has his shooting touch back. This couldn’t be more evident after an amazing play late in the 4th quarter.

With 40 seconds left in the game, Irving came off an Al Horford pick and nailed a big 3 point shot.  The Celtics were up 101-97 and looked like they had the game in the bag. It was a classic Kyrie shot.

I think Irving believed that as well because he made two key errors after that.

The first came with less than 15 seconds left. Irving had an easy layup but the shot didn’t have enough strength behind it. It’s simple, Kyrie needs to hit those shots.

Victor Oladipo snagged the rebound and headed up the court. Now let me remind you this is a two-point game. You just can’t let Oladipo take an uncontested three.

Well, that is exactly what happened.

Irving got back on defense, but Oladipo blew by him and pulled up from long distance to hit the game-winning shot.

Now to Irving’s credit, he knew he screwed up. After the game, he took responsibility for the loss. He knew he made some big mistakes.

Next. Gordon Hayward starting to shine. dark

So hopefully Kyrie Irving will stop costing his team games and will start to be the reason they are winning. I’m pretty confident he will be able to soon enough.
