Boston Bruins rumors: Team will be without a captain for 4-6 weeks
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins will be missing a major presence on the ice as Zdeno Chara will be out 4-6 weeks with a left knee injury.
Everything just seems to get better for the Boston Bruins. Boston has piled up injury after injury this season. This one may be their biggest loss yet.
Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic is reporting that Zdeno Chara will miss 4-6 weeks with a left knee injury.
This is a major loss for the Bruins. They lost one of the most important defensemen. Who would’ve ever thought that Jeremy Lauzon would be on the Bruins top d-pairing?

Now Torey Krug and Matt Grzelcyk are going to have to step up and be leaders on defense. They both have looked rather well but Krug has struggled to score early on.
They also aren’t your typical defensemen. Both Grzelcyk and Krug are better suited in the offensive zone and are rather small. Opposing players will be able to push these guys around much easier than Chara.
This will be a major test for these guys to prove that they are not just defensemen who can score, but defensemen who are good in their own zone.
The biggest impact of Chara being out is his presence in the ice. The dude is 6’9″ it is kind of tough to miss him.
Chara has become a policeman for the Bruins. If anyone ever tries to go after a player, Chara will make sure they don’t do it again. Without Chara and Kevan Miller on the ice, the Bruins are without an enforcer. We saw that on Friday night.
Torey Krug got sucker punched by Roman Polak and we saw Patrice Bergeron get injured after a rather dirty hit. If Chara was on the ice I don’t think Polak gets away with that.
Life without Zdeno Chara won’t be easy for the Boston Bruins.
