After a rough start to the season,Ryan Donato has figured things out and is back with the Boston Bruins.

The young stud is making his return. Ryan Donato struggled mightily in what looked to be his first full season with the Boston Bruins. It seemed like there was a force field around the net. After spending some time in Providence, Donato will look to ensure that he stays with the big boys.

Donato looked like a shell of himself at the beginning of the season. After jumping on to the scene in an impressive fashion straight out of college, Bruins fans were expecting a lot from him.

They got a whole lot of nothing. In 11 games, Donato only scored 1 goal and had a rating of -4. He deserved to be sent down to Providence. He was hurting the Bruins more than he was helping.

More from Chowder and Champions

Down in Providence Donato did all the right things. He worked on his game and you could see the results on the ice. Donato tallied 5 goals and 4 assists in 10 games with the baby Bruins.

Things won’t be easy for Donato. He will have to earn his playing time. Young players like Anders Bjork and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson have been impressive.

I definitely could see Donato sliding in for Colby Cave. Donato is a natural center who has been forced to play on the wing in the NHL. With Patrice Bergeron out, this is the perfect opportunity to let Donato get comfortable and hopefully get him scoring.

Ryan Donato has the skills to be a great player in the NHL. I expect Donato to be the player we know and love this go around. He knows that he can’t afford to struggle with the bevy of talent in the Bruins organization.
