New England Revolution: Team announces major matchup with Chelsea

New England Revolution fans will get the opportunity to watch one of England’s best clubs at Gillette Stadium.

Soccer is the world’s game. The only place it has struggled to grow is here in the United States. Lately, that seems to be changing and the New England Revolution are doing their part.

For soccer fans in the United States most of our favorite teams are overseas. The English Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world consisting of global superpowers like Manchester United (my favorite English club), Manchester City, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

It’s rare that fans get to see their favorite players in person. Most of the time it requires a trip to England or hoping for a friendly here in the United States. Fans of the club Chelsea will be jumping for joy once they here the news. The club is coming to America.

The New England Revolution and Chelsea announced that they will be playing a friendly at Gillette Stadium in Spring of 2019. The match is being called the Game for Change because Revolution owner Robert Kraft and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich are donating a million dollars to the fight against antisemitism.

If you are a soccer fan you won’t want to miss this game. Chelsea has some of the best players in the world. N’Golo Kante is coming off a World Cup victory for his native France and is one of the best midfielders in the game today.

Also, Chelsea has some amazing strikers. Eden Hazard has established himself as one of the top players in the world. In 12 Premier League appearances this season he has 7 goals and 4 assists.

Hazard is also the captain of the Belgium National Team who made it all the way to the World Cup semi-finals. He has played in almost 100 international games and has 27 international goals and 26 assists.

Chelsea also has a great winger in Willian. The Brazilian is able to use his amazing speed to turn any play into a possible goal. He has appeared in over 60 games for Brazil’s National team.
