New England Patriots are surprising fans with recent play

The New England Patriots are struggling and for most fans, this is a situation they have never been in.

What are the first few words that you think of when you hear the New England Patriots? Winning, Super Bowl’s, trophies,  and greatness are what most people would think.

Now when you think of this year’s team that isn’t the case. The Patriots are struggling which is rather surprising.

In Week 15 the Patriots defense was non-existent for the most part, and they were extremely undisciplined. New England committed 14 penalties. It’s really hard to win a game when you are shooting yourself in the foot that much. They ended up losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10.

Now the loss is bad for many reasons. For one the Steelers were without James Conner. You would’ve thought that the Steelers would have trouble running the ball. That wasn’t the case.

Jaylen Samuels who is the team’s 3rd string running back ran for 142 yards. You can’t let that happen.

Now the Patriots are still at the top of the AFC East with their 9-5 record but have fallen to the No.3 seed in the AFC. They no longer control their own destiny. It is pretty likely the Patriots will be playing in their first wildcard game since 2009.

Patriots fans may not be able to recall that game because they got demolished by the Baltimore Ravens 33-14 at home. I don’t know how confident I will be this postseason. This is also the Patriots first season with more than 4 losses since that wonderful 2009 season.

History shows that this Patriots team is bound for a first-round exit. New England has a lot of work to do and fast. If the Patriots think they can win games with how they played in Week 15 they will be on vacation really soon.

I really hope history doesn’t repeat itself because if it does, I think the New England Patriots organization as a whole will be in big trouble.
