New England Patriots: Offense is in trouble without Josh Gordon
By Sam Minton
With Josh Gordon stepping away from the New England Patriots, the team’s offense will be without a player who transformed their offense.
This is just awful to see. Josh Gordon seemed like he found a place where he could focus on football and leave his off the field problems in the past. Now the New England Patriots will be without a major offensive weapon.
Josh Gordon announced that he will be stepping away from the team to focus on his mental health. This isn’t the first time Gordon has had to step away from the game. In Cleveland he had to do this as well.
Gordon has dealt with substance abuse problems his whole life. It is one of the major reasons we never got to see his full potential.

When Gordon announced his departure it was also reported that Gordon was facing an indefinite suspension. This really breaks your heart.
Gordon has been great since coming to New England. In 11 games he has 40 catches for 720 yards and 3 touchdowns. We were finally getting to see how great of a player Gordon was.
Now we will continue to ask what if? What if he was able to play a full season? What if he played in the playoffs? What if he never had these off the field issues?
I just feel bad for Josh Gordon. Mental Health isn’t something that is an easy fix. The same goes for his substance abuse issues. Just when his career was looking to be on the up and up, everything came crashing down.
The pressure is on
The New England Patriots will miss Gordon a ton. He was their most dynamic offensive weapon. Gordon was so athletic that no ball was out of reach. He made some truly special plays.
Without Gordon, the Patriots have no deep threat. Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman will have to play out of their minds. They need to play better or else the Patriots may begin to fall apart.
The Patriots also need to rely on James White. White is leading the team in targets and has been the Patriots best player on offense this season, but in the last two games, White has only been targeted 11 times. This may seem like a lot but when he was playing his best, White was averaging at least 10 targets a game.
All Patriots fans can do right now is hope that Josh Gordon gets the help he needs. At the end of the day, football is a game.
Get well soon Josh.
