Even though Josh Gordon has left the team, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him return to the New England Patriots next season.

The New England Patriots got to see the best of Josh Gordon. When he is on the field, Gordon is one of the best receivers in the game. The issues come when Gordon steps off the field.

Still, I think there is a good chance that Josh Gordon returns to the team.

More from Chowder and Champions

Gordon proved in a short period of time that he is a talented wideout. In just 10 games with the New England Patriots, Gordon racked up 40 catches for 720 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Tom Brady had finally found his beloved deep threat. All Brady had to do was launch the ball in the air, Gordon did the rest of the work.

Gordon has insane athleticism. I don’t think there is a ball that he can’t catch.

Brady and Gordon seemed to sprout a friendship rather quickly. Their lockers were right next to each other and we saw Brady helping Gordon get used to things in New England.

After the news of his suspension, Brady posted a message of encouragement on his Instagram and even wore a similar plaid jacket to Gordon before the Patriots Week 16 game versus the Buffalo Bills.

It also seemed like Gordon was making friends with the Patriots coaches. Ryan O’Shea is the Patriots wide receiver coach and spoke glowingly about the wideout.

"“As a group and myself personally, we enjoyed working with Josh,” O’Shea said Monday, via WEEI’s Ryan Hannable. “He came to work every day and tried to do what we asked him to do. I appreciate all his hard work that he put in here and I appreciate the production he had on the field."

It appears that Josh Gordon still has great relationships within the Patriots organization. Major players like Tom Brady and Julian Edelman seemed to really like the guy.

The only thing that would stop the Patriots from re-signing Josh Gordon would be his rumored suspension. If Gordon gets suspended for two or more seasons there is no reason for the Patriots to bring him back.

Hopefully, Josh Gordon will figure everything out and put himself in the best position to succeed in life as well as the football field.
