After the fiasco with the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is patiently navigating the head coaching waters.

Josh McDaniels definitely made a name for himself last season. The problem is that it was for all the wrong reasons. Now it looks like the New England Patriots offensive coordinator is testing the head coaching waters once again.

Who could forget what happened in Indy? McDaniels backing out at the last possible moment is a horrible look. I am surprised he is even being considered for a job this season.

The Patriots offense was alright but wasn’t anything amazing. The most impressive thing McDaniels did was somehow turn Cordarrelle Patterson into a quality running back.

McDaniels play calling has been iffy for the New England Patriots this year. Some of his trick plays have been unsuccessful and he has made some dumb decisions. Why on Earth is James White running dives on third and 1?

Still, there are plenty of head coaching jobs to be had and not a whole lot of talent on the horizon. There are 8 jobs up for grabs and when you are co-signed by the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL you are bound to drum up some interest.

It was interesting to see how McDaniels would act. Will he rush into things like he did in Indy or will he take his time and look for the best place for him? It appears that McDaniels is showing some patience so far.

The Cincinnati Bengals were looking to interview McDaniels but he respectfully declined. Now it seems like it is a 2 team race for McDaniels between the Green Bay Packers, and the Cleveland Browns.

The Packers would be an interesting job because they have a great quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. McDaniels has been successful with Tom Brady so it would be interesting to see what he could do with Rodgers.

Right now Cleveland seems to be ahead in the race for McDaniels. According to reports, there is a mutual interest and it would also be a homecoming for the Canton, Ohio native.

Cleveland is intriguing because you have a young team led by Baker Mayfield who looks to be promising young quarterback. Imagine one of Bill Belichick’s protege’s going back to the team where Bill started his head coaching career. It sounds like something out of a movie

If Josh McDaniels wants a head coaching job in the near future, this offseason might be his last chance.
