It is always an honor to make it to an All-Star game, but do not vote for Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron to be the last man in for the Atlantic Division.

I never thought I would say this, but please don’t vote for Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron. I am begging you. You may think I have lost my mind, but trust me here.

Bergeron is currently on the ballot for the NHL’s new “Last Men In” vote. This allows an extra player from each division to be added to the All-Star roster.

The center was on the phone with 98.5 the Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich and when asked about the All-Star game he wasn’t exactly thrilled.

"“No, not really,” Bergeron said when asked if he cares about being voted in as the Atlantic’s last man in. “I’ve got a newborn baby boy, so obviously that time off would be nice to be home.”"

That’s completely understandable. A vote for Patrice Bergeron is a vote for taking him away from his newborn son. I don’t want that on my conscience.

Also, I think Bergeron could use the rest. After dealing with a brutal shoulder/rib injury I would prefer he rest up during the All-Star break. Bergeron needs to be well rested for what should be an intense 2nd half of the season.

Boston should be in a battle at the top of the Eastern Conference. With some strong teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Washington Capitals. This is the most talented the conference has been in a long time.

Bergeron even with his injury has had a great season. In just 27 games he has 14 goals and 24 assists.

What is even more amazing is that he is 3rd on the team in goals, 4th in assists, and 3rd in scoring overall. In a short period of time, Bergeron has done a lot of scoring.

So once again please just let Patrice Bergeron rest at home with his family. I think the man deserves it.
