New England Patriots rumors: Why Julian Edelman deserves to be in Hall of Fame
By Sam Minton
Throughout his career, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has done some amazing things and has proven that he deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Sometimes I feel we as New England Patriots fans can forget how good Julian Edelman is. He isn’t just Tom Brady’s biggest fan, Edelman is one of the best Patriots receivers in team history.
Even though Edelman missed 4 games due to suspension he had a great season. In just 12 games he racked up 74 catches for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns.
For me, this season and Edelman’s continued success in the playoffs makes him a definite Hall of Famer.

Now Edelman’s career numbers don’t necessarily look like someone who belongs in the Hall of Fame. His 499 career receptions is 148th in NFL history. 5,390 receiving yards over 115 games isn’t that impressive either.
So why is Julian Edelman a Hall of Famer?
Edelman is an absolute beast in the playoffs. Who can forget Edelman’s amazing catch in the Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons? I still don’t know how he caught that ball.
Now we all remember the catch, but what about Edelman’s stats in that game? Jules had 5 catches for 87 yards.
This postseason Edelman has continued to play great. In the 2 postseason games this year, he has 16 catches for 247 yards.
When it matters most Edelman plays great. Tom Brady completely trusts him in the last few minutes of a game.
With all the great moments that Edelman has in the postseason and Super Bowl, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. You can’t tell the story of the New England Patriots dynasty without talking about Julian Edelman.
So it will be interesting to see what happens when Julian Edelman retires. If the New England Patriots and Edelman win another Super Bowl it will make it really hard to keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
