Even though Brian Hoyer never played a snap for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII he had a major role in the team’s victory.

Brian Hoyer may have what we fans regard to as the best job in the world. He is Tom Brady’s backup which seems like an easy job, but Hoyer had a lot to do with the New England Patriots success in Super Bowl LIII.

Some may think that Hoyer gets paid millions of dollars to hold a clipboard, but that simply isn’t true. Hoyer has to help prepare the defense for opposing teams as well as fill in for the greatest quarterback of all time.

Now if you just look at that stats, Hoyer had no impact on the game. He didn’t even play a snap, but he made life insanely easy for the Patriots defense.

More from Chowder and Champions

Hoyer has made some trips around the NFL. When he was on the Cleveland Browns his offensive coordinator was Kyle Shanahan, and a young Sean McVay was the tight ends coach.

Now here is where things get interesting. Patriots fans may have to say thank you to a guy they hate, Peyton Manning.

Hoyer realized after watching Manning’s show “Detail” that the Rams were using the same offense that he used in Cleveland. Then through watching another show, he realized they were using the same language.

Hoyer’s knowledge would pay dividends especially on one play. The backup knew that the Rams had no answer for an all-out blitz. As we saw late in the 4th quarter he was correct.

So Brian Hoyer isn’t just a guy who sits on the bench doing nothing. He has actually helped the team out a lot.

Next. Demaryius Thomas simply not a good fit. dark

Even though Hoyer failed as a starter he will always be a Super Bowl champ and you can’t take that away from him.
