Boston Celtics fans have been waiting for the Gordon Hayward that we were promised when he was signed in 2017. That great player seems to finally be back.

Last season was a nightmare for Gordon Hayward. His bright Boston Celtics career came crashing down. Finally, it looks like the Gordon Hayward Celtics fans were hoping for has arrived.

Hayward had a horrible start to the season. There is no other way to put it. He looked completely out of sync and struggled to find his shot. It appeared that the Gordon Hayward that Boston was looking for was gone.

Here and there Hayward would have quality games and give fans a surge of hope. Then a few games later it would come crashing down.

For example, Hayward went off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in December racking up 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. In the next game Hayward only had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Now things seem to be headed in the right direction. Hayward has looked great in two straight games. This still may be a small sample size, but there is definitely reason to be excited.

Against the Golden State Warriors, Hayward was dominant. He had another 30 point game and also had 7 rebounds 4 assists and 2 steals.

This wasn’t against some joke of a team. The Golden State Warriors are the favorites to win the NBA Finals. This is definitely a performance to write home about.

Then on Thursday night, Hayward was the clutch shooter the Boston Celtics needed. Hayward hit a beautiful last second floater to win the game for Boston.

This has been the healthiest Hayward has looked. He finally looks like he belongs out there. If Hayward keeps playing well he may even find his way into the starting lineup.
