Boston Bruins rumors: Matt Grzelcyk will be hard to replace
By Sam Minton
At the start of the 2018-19 season, Boston Bruins fans wouldn’t have been too upset if Matt Grzelcyk had gotten injured, but Grzelcyk has proven to be a quality player.
Some were worried that the Boston Bruins peaked too early. Well, I guess there is no need to worry now that the team’s point streak has ended, but this wasn’t the most important thing that occurred on Sunday night.
It looks like Matt Grzelcyk will be out for some time after getting his arm driven into the boards by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist. He left the game and did not return.

Now some of you may not be worried. The Bruins have been playing great and Grzelcyk isn’t exactly the most important player on the team, but this season he has been a major piece.
Before Sunday night, Grzelcyk was one of the only players to not have been injured this season. He has played in 60 games and has 2 goals and 14 assists this season.
Grzelcyk has improved a lot in his 2nd season. He was relied upon a lot at the beginning of the year with all the injuries that occurred. We have seen Grzelcyk on the power play and he has been a leader on defense.
One of the main things that Grzelcyk has improved on is his consistency. We saw Grzelcyk make some serious mistakes in his first season. In 2018-19 Grzelcyk has been a quality defensemen who has been able to rack up some points as well.
Grzelcyk will never be among the likes of Charlie McAvoy and Torey Krug but he definitely could one day be a quality 2nd pairing defensemen. The kid has a lot of potential.
So hopefully Matt Grzelcyk won’t be out for a while because he has been a key defensemen for the Boston Bruins this season.
