This hasn’t been the season that the Boston Celtics were hoping for and Kyrie Irving isn’t afraid to admit that he has made some mistakes.

Kyrie Irving wanted the spotlight. He wanted to be the No.1 guy and that’s what he got when he joined the Boston Celtics.

But this season has been a rollercoaster for Irving and the Celtics. The team has struggled mightily at times and hasn’t been the dominant squad that C’s fans hoped for.

More from Chowder and Champions

On the court Kyrie has been great. He is averaging 23.4 points, 7 assists and 4.9 rebounds a game. When the Celtics need a bucket they can count on Irving.

The major issue for the Celtics has been Irving’s off the court antics. He has continued to flip flop on whether he is staying in Boston or not and hasn’t been afraid to call out the younger guys on the team.

Being a leader isn’t an easy job and Irving knows that, but he has to improve. Thankfully it appears that Kyrie knows he has made some mistakes this season.

"“The way I’ve handled things, it hasn’t been perfect. I’ve made a lot of mistakes that I take full responsibility for. I apologize. I haven’t done it perfectly. I haven’t said the right things all the time. I don’t want to sit on a place like I’m on a pedestal from anybody. I’m a normal human being that makes mistakes. For me, I think because of how fixated I was on trying to prove other people wrong, I got into a lot of habits that were bad, like reading stuff and reacting emotionally. That’s just not who I am.”"

This should obviously make Celtics fans happy. Especially because this makes me think that Irving cares about his teammates in Boston. Why would you admit mistakes if you were just going to leave the team in the summer?

This season has felt like it has been reality TV. There is just so much drama. As long as Kyrie Irving re-sign with the Boston Celtics I think all will be forgiven.

There is still a lot for Kyrie Irving to learn. He has to be someone that guys like Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown can look up to. He can’t be tearing these guys down he needs to lift them up.

dark. Next. Gordon Hayward may finally be back

This offseason will prove if Kyrie Irving wants to win and be the No.1 star or if he is just looking to play for the highest bidder.
