New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is sitting out OTA’s in 2019 making this the 2nd straight season doing so. Hopefully the decision doesn’t come back to bite him in the regular season.

Last season New England Patriots fans freaked out when it was reported that Tom Brady wasn’t attending OTA’s. People started wondering if this would be the downfall of the team.

Well get ready for round 2. According to reports, Brady won’t be appearing at OTA’s for a 2nd straight season.

Now I will admit that last season I was nervous. I thought this was the beginning of the end for New England. There possibly could have been a rift between Brady and Bill Belichick or maybe this would be Brady’s last season.

Of course I was wrong. Brady had a great season throwing for 4,355 yards and 29 touchdowns and the New England Patriots won another Super Bowl.

There were definitely times that Brady struggled. He made some uncharacteristically bad throws and some awful interceptions, but I don’t think this can be blamed on him missing OTA’s.

Sometimes we can forget that Tom Brady is a 41-year-old quarterback. The fact that he is still able to perform at such a high level is really impressive.

So this is just the new norm for Tom Brady. He wants to extend his offseason and spend more time with his family. You can’t really get mad at the guy.

Also it’s important to note that the “O” in OTA’s stands for optional. There is nothing saying that Brady has to be there.

Not going to OTA’s shouldn’t affect Brady any more than it did last season. He is still the guy that I want leading my offense. It’s amazing what Brady is still able to do.
