Some wondered if Brad Stevens was capable of handling a star in the NBA, but it appears that the Boston Celtics head coach and star Kyrie Irving have forged quite the relationship.

It is clear that the Boston Celtics made the right move by making Brad Stevens their coach 6 years ago. It seems like just yesterday Stevens was making the jump to the NBA (time really does fly by when you are having fun).

The NBA is a completely different animal compared to the NCAA. You are dealing with the best players in the world who get paid an insane amount of money to play the game they love.

One of the major concerns that arose when Brad Stevens signed with the team was his ability to handle NBA stars. Stevens has proven that he is able to do just that.

Over these last two seasons Kyrie Irving has grown a lot as a player. Irving is still known for his scoring but has become a much more complete player and Brad Stevens deserves some of the credit.

Stevens has preached a team style of basketball that focuses on ball movement and quality defense. Irving wasn’t exactly known for his defense before coming to Boston. Now you’ll see him drawing charges, picking pockets, and diving for loose balls.

Now Irving does deserve some credit as well. He has proven that he is committed to working on his game and becoming a better player. He could just be a scorer like James Harden, but Irving wants to be a great player in all areas of the game.

Also Stevens has proven is that he can handle all the ego’s on a team. He isn’t afraid to switch up the lineup and sit a guy on the bench. Everyone trusts that what he is doing is best for the team.

The Boston Celtics are lucky to have Brad Stevens because without him I don’t believe they would be the talented team that they are today.
