New England Patriots: Austin Seferian-Jenkins looks to fill Gronk sized hole
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots continue to search for their Rob Gronkowski replacement. Austin Seferian-Jenkins appears to be the top tight end on New England’s roster.
This offseason is sort of a rebuild for the New England Patriots. Their offense will be undergoing a transformation after the departure of Rob Gronkowski.
Gronkowski was amazing. At his peak, he completely transformed the tight end position. Gronkowski will go down as the greatest tight end to ever play the game.

The Patriots have been looking for his replacement all season. New England has looked at the top tight ends in this year’s draft class and even signed a German league player. It is clear that the Patriots are looking all over to fill the void that Rob Gronkowski left.
New England’s latest move seems to make their best move yet. The team has signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins.
Seferian-Jenkins has never been on the level of a player like Gronkowski, but he has potential. He is only 26 years old and has plenty of football left in him.
The tight end stands at 6’5″ and is a quality pass catcher. He is a guy that Tom Brady could lob the ball up to in the end zone.
New England still has work to do. They need to find some quality wide receivers because right now the Patriots don’t have a lot of weapons in the passing game.
But the team is headed in the right direction. The Patriots need a guy like Seferian-Jenkins on the roster. All the focus will be on Julian Edelman so I expect Seferian-Jenkins to get plenty of targets.
So it will be interesting to see what Austin Seferian-Jenkins does with a quarterback like Tom Brady throwing him the ball. If I had to guess, Seferian-Jenkins will have the best season of his career.
