Bill Belichick recently celebrated his 67th birthday and New England Patriots fans should appreciate just how great of a coach he is.

These last 20 years have been amazing for the New England Patriots. The franchise has gone on an impressive run that has made them the top team in the league. All teams aspire to be the New England Patriots.

A major reason for this is Bill Belichick. The Patriots head coach has a football mind that we may never see again.

More from Chowder and Champions

Belichick is probably the greatest coach in league history.  He has won six Super Bowls and boasts a career record of 261-123.

Without Bill Belichick I don’t know if the Patriots are as successful as they have been. They may have won a Super Bowl or two thanks to Tom Brady, but not six.

Belichick just knows what players have the “it” factor. He knows when they will hit their stride and the best position to put them in.

I don’t know how much longer we will have Belichick as the Patriots head coach. He has said that he doesn’t want to coach well into his 70’s and 80’s.

Still I think Belichick will be just like Tom Brady. You will have to drag those two off the football field.

I also think there is a little bit of that competitive spirit in Belichick. He probably wants to outlast Brady and prove that he doesn’t need him to win.

It will be a sad day when Belichick leaves. He helped make this franchise one of the best in all of sports. The players definitely deserve some credit, but so does the head coach.

Next. Patrick Chung a much needed re-signing. dark

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bill Belichick win a few more rings before he decides to call it a career. He is simply the best coach in NFL history.
