Brandon Carlo has finally gotten to play in the playoffs and he isn’t letting the Boston Bruins down.

For the past few seasons it seemed like we were just waiting for Brandon Carlo to get hurt. The defenseman has shown some promise but never got to show his skills in the postseason. Now Carlo has been a player the Boston Bruins can rely on.

Carlo has missed the postseason two years in a row due to injury. He was having good seasons and then all of a sudden he would be sidelined.

More from Chowder and Champions

Thankfully this year Carlo was able to stay relatively healthy. He played in 72 games and 2 goals and 8 assists.

Carlo’s impact isn’t felt on the stat sheet. He is a quality defenseman who works perfectly with Torey Krug.

Krug will get involved offensively while Carlo stays at home and makes sure there are no defensive breakdowns. The duo are a perfect matchup.

Carlo still has some offensive skills. He has a slap shot that may rival Zdeno Chara’s. If he could improve his accuracy that thing would be a dangerous weapon.

So far in the postseason Carlo has been one of the Bruins best players. He has been able to keep up with the Columbus Blue Jackets top players and clear the crease for Tuukka Rask.

Carlo is going to be the backbone of the Bruins defense. When Zdeno Chara is gone, Carlo will be one of the best stay at home defensemen the team will have.

The Bruins have needed Carlo to be one of their best players this series. Columbus is a physical team filled with some big players. Guys like Torey Krug and Matt Grzelcyk have been getting pushed around. Carlo is able to use his size and knock opposing players off of the puck.

dark. Next. David Pastrnak needs to show up

Hopefully Brandon Carlo’s first postseason will end with him lifting the Stanley Cup.
