The New England Revolution were struggling and decided to fire head coach Brad Friedel. Now the team has a former USA national team coach patrolling the sidelines.

This season has been an awful one for the New England Revolution. They are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and were playing some uninspiring soccer.

There needed to be a change and luckily that change came when Brad Friedel was fired a few days ago. It was clear that he was a much better goalkeeper than a coach.

Now the team appears to be headed in the right direction. They were finally able to win a game and now they have found their new head coach, Bruce Arena.

If you are a soccer fan in the United States, Arena is a big deal. He has coached for multiple teams in the MLS and boasts a 240-92-147 record. Arena has also won 5 MLS cups so hopefully New England will finally be victorious.

Arena was also the coach of the United States Men’s national team on two separate occasions. His last stint saw the US fail to qualify for the World Cup.

I think that Arena will help out the Revs a lot. The hope is that he will be able to attract some high profile talent. Hopefully some of the guys that played on the national team end up on the Revs.

Arena needs to turn things around fast. If he doesn’t this season will basically be over. The Revolution have a large hole to climb out of.

Things seem to be heating up in New England. Rumors of a possible stadium in Boston solely for the Revolution are starting once again and the team play Chelsea in a friendly on Wednesday.
