By Sam Minton
The Boston Red Sox may not be having an amazing season, but they could still have a decent sized group of players headed to the 2019 All-Star game.
There is no sugarcoating it. The Boston Red Sox have not been having a great season. Some would say that it couldn’t get any worse.
The Red Sox are more than 8 games out of 1st place and if they don’t figure things out fast, they won’t even be in the playoffs. For the defending world champions that is quite the dropoff.

One of the interesting things about this Boston Red Sox team is that they haven’t experienced a ton of turnover. A lot of the key guys that lead Boston to a championship are still on the team.
So it is stunning that they have failed so spectacularly.
There is one group of players that have struggled the most this season. Both the bullpen and the starting rotation have been terrible.
One of the pitchers that have struggled the most is Chris Sale. We have seen his velocity fluctuate and he is having difficulty winning games. He may have improved but when you have just signed a guy to a long term extension they can’t have a record of 1-7.
I think it is fair to say that no pitchers will be on the All-Star roster.
So here are 5 players who could represent the Boston Red Sox in the 2019 All-Star game.
