New England Patriots: Julian Edelman is a top 5 receiver
By Sam Minton
Josh McCown said that Julian Edelman is a top 5 wide receiver and chaos ensued, but the New England Patriots wide receiver is definitely deserving of the honor.
Some may consider Julian Edelman to just be a simple slot receiver or a product of a great New England Patriots system, but he is more than that.
Edelman is a top 5 receiver in the league today because of his skill and his ability to catch anything. It’s the reason that Tom Brady trusts him so much.

Last season even though Edelman was suspended for 4 games he was still amazing. He was the Patriots top receiver with 74 catches for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Whenever the Patriots needed Edelman to come up big he was successful. The pressure never seems to get to him.
We have seen Edelman make a ton of big catches. In Super Bowl 51 he made an insane catch to keep the Patriots in the game.
Even if you leave out all of the amazing catches Edelman’s performance in the big game is spectacular. In the 3 Super Bowl’s he has appeared in he has 24 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown.
We may take Julian Edelman for granted. Sometimes we give all the credit to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but Edelman has been a major part of New England’s success. He is someone that you can rely on week in and week out to perform well.
Edelman never has an off week. He gives his all week in and week out. I swear, Edelman could get hit by a freight train and he would just pop right up.
So there is no doubt that Julian Edelman is a top 5 wide receiver in the NFL today. He will go down as the best wide receiver in Patriots history and should end up in the Hall of Fame when his career is over.
