Russell Westbrook is officially on the market and the Boston Celtics should try and acquire the elite point guard.

The Boston Celtics have been rather active this offseason, but they could still make one major move now that one of the best point guards in the game is on the market.

Now I am well aware that the Boston Celtics did just lock up Kemba Walker and he was supposed to be the sole face of the franchise. I don’t expect the C’s to move on from the point guard, but Russell Westbrook is a once in a generation player. His skill set is extremely unique.

There is no doubt that it will take quite the offer to strip Westbrook away from the Thunder. It will have to be enough to show fans that this rebuild is worth it.

Boston definitely has the assets. The team could ship off Gordon Hayward and a bevy of draft picks or they could create a package involving Jaylen Brown.

When a guy like Russell Westbrook is on the market you have to try and acquire him. Danny Ainge is known for his great ability to make trades. If anyone can snag Westbrook out of Oklahoma City it is him.

Imagining Russell Westbrook in a Boston Celtics uniform will bring smiles to any Celtics fan’s face. He is exactly what you want in a player. So let’s see why the Boston Celtics should try and acquire one of the best point guards in the NBA today.
